ARCHIVE– NAKED SUBCULTURE

Naked Subculture was a collective of ex-homeless and homeless performers
and artists working to create new theatre productions and participatory
projects with communities
The company developed from a series of drama workshops for Big Issue
vendors organised by CAN and the Big Issue in the North in 1999 and
was run as a joint project by these two partners.
The company mounted two large-scale productions:
A Nightmare
on Oldham Street, Contact Theatre (Manchester) in 2000
Broken Planet,
Contact Theatre, Unity Theatre (Liverpool), Merlin Theatre (Sheffield)
in 2001
We also performed our Cabaret show at a number of smaller venues
and performed as part of 'Urban Skies', a production staged by CAN in
the Commonwealth Games' Cultureshock Festival, 2002.
